1966 VW Westfalia

Unrestored!

1966 VW - SO 42 Walkthrough Camper. It has about every option you could get including the most desirable body configuration with the walkthrough access from front to rear and the pop top with side tent and child's hammock. It has letter of authenticity from VW AG confirming it as a matching numbers, as ordered new. It is original paint save for an almost undetectable touch up on the left side and repainted bumpers and wheels. You can see neat details like the faded away words saying "fasten safety belts" above speedo and under the dash grab handle, which were water transfers from the factory. It may be a small point but makes it clear that the incredible condition of the interior paint is all original. It still retains a perfect side tent that was only set up less than a dozen times by the looks of it. It has the child's hammock that goes across the front seat area, which is also the original heavy weave canvas.

The only known changes to it are that the original curtains were re-done using a look alike material and the front seats and door panels were replaced with new aftermarket ones. The original two owners, each over twenty years with it, kept all of the original materials that were replaced to attest to the great original condition of the bus before work was performed. These are still with it. All the rest of the interior is original from the factory including the canvas pop top material and is in unbelievable condition. It has had all mechanicals rebuilt over the past ten years or so and maybe 1000 miles put on it since. It comes with all records and numerous receipts to verify all its history. It has its original books including the rare " Camping Car" book that shows how to put up the tent and use all the features of a true Westfalia. It also has its original jack and tool roll.

The window shots show a 1969 tax sticker from Sterling Miss, where it lived with the first owner of over twenty years and a 1970 Daytona Speed Weeks sticker on the back glass. It is rust free and solid as a rock. The beloved little bus was wiped down and stored after each use, in fact if you look at the rain gutters the paint on the top edge has been rubbed right down to shiny metal with no rust on any of it. It runs and drives like a new one.
